This weekend I photographed Jeff and Stephanie’s engagement session in Downtown, Los Angeles.  We walked around Olvera Street while a large celebration was happening.  It was crowded, music blasting, and the smell of good food was everywhere – it was quintessential LA.  We then walked over to Union Station to take some more photographs.  Union Station is simply beautiful, that place always amazes me – plus, how cool are those large old chairs?  It was a blast hanging out with Jeff and Stephanie and what would you know… we made some great images too.

I spent the weekend at a friends 50th birthday party up in Mammoth Lakes, CA.  Do you like to ski, snowboard, hike, or fish in Southern California? Then I’m sure you’ve heard of Mammoth Mountain.  Well – did you know there is a small, beautiful, rustic summertime wedding venue to get married at in Mammoth?  The Twin Lakes Forest Chapel is across the footbridge from the Tamarack Lodge.  My wife and I think “The Lakefront Restaurant” inside the lodge is one of the finest places to dine in all of the Mammoth Lakes area.  The historic lodge is intimate and charming – we’ve sat fireside many times after dinner enjoying a game of chess and chatting.  There is ample lodging for guests either at the Tamarack Lodge or in town at the Juniper Springs Lodge, The Westin, or in The Village.  As I own a condo in Mammoth, I am happy to be your wedding photographer and will work as a local.

Jeff and Lena were married in Marina Del Rey at Shangai Red’s. The setting was beautiful, right along side the harbor – boats passing by, the sun dipping into the ocean. This couple are good friends of mine and I couldn’t have been more honored photographing their wedding.

A rooftop wedding at the Chamberlain Hotel in West Hollywood. It was a beautiful intimate affair. Set right at sunset, the clouds made for a dramatic sunset, perhaps trying to outdo the bride and groom. But to no avail, Natalie and Sergio were fantastic.

Mike and Kathy got married at the Ebell of Los Angeles in 2007.  Also known as the Ebell Theatre (as it has a 1,200 seat auditorium), this 75,000 sq. foot wedding venue is a historic gem on Wilshire Boulevard in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles.  It is an architecturally stunning venue with a beautiful courtyard for an outdoor ceremony and the adjacent detailed ballrooms are spacious enough to accommodate larger wedding parties.  My wedding photographs of the Ebell of Los Angeles give you a sense of mood and style that a classic wedding venue can impart on your special day.  For further information on the Ebell of Los Angeles, visit their blog.

Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Austin Beutner welcomes China’s BYD automotive chairman Chuanfu Wang to Los Angeles at the Nokia Plaza on April 29th.  These photos were done for a local public relations firm as the automotive firm BYD (Build Your Dreams) was announcing the installation of their U.S. automotive headquarters in Los Angeles.  The wind was howling and man did I have to work fast.

On March 27th,  I got the opportunity to tag along with San Diego photographer Michael Tyler and shoot the wedding of Pat and Mindy .  It was a great wedding- lots of friends, family, and love.  And wow, these families knew how to party!  By the time I left for my drive back up to Los Angeles, they had barely begun to kick the evening into high gear.  It was a pleasure shooting along side Michael and I’m thankful he shared some of his expertise with me.
